Manchester United have announced that they plan to build a new super 100,000 capacity stadium which will cost around £2bn and take 5 years to build.
The surrounding area will also be transformed with residential areas built which will also create thousands of local jobs.
Before the new stadium gets underway United will need to buy land behind Old Trafford from Freightliner, at this time they have not secured a deal and the freight firm could even hold out and not sell the land which will mean the new stadium doesn’t happen.
People have rightly asked where will United get all this money from? If it’s from banks and other lenders this means United will be in more debt! something fans are already unhappy with, the financing of a £2bn stadium is not going to be easy.
As for the stadium design some like it and some do not which you would expect, most people do not like the white spiderweb type cover with the huge 3 spires that can be seen for miles away, the stadium inside though is something very futuristic and impressive.
Inside the stadium a wrap around screen can be seen which we think has been copied from SoFi stadium the home of NFL teams Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams, the wrap around screen at the new stadium will be at the top and nearest to the roof.
