Emergency Services received calls about a huge fire at J Davidson Scrapyard behind Altrincham Retail Park earlier today 22 March.

Police closed off a small roundabout at the junction of Barlow Road and Craven Road, the access from George Richards Way into Craven Road was also taped off.

At the scene our reporter was told by police that “At this time we do not believe anyone was hurt in this incident and confirmed it was J Davidson Scrapyard” many fire fighters were on the scene with one high in the air trying to put this huge fire out.

Our reporter did see an ambulance though with flashing lights very close to the scene.

Our reporter was on the scene for as long as two hours and still the smoke was billowing out, police later taped off George Richards Way just before the retail park.

We have asked Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service for a statement.
