It’s that time again when the UK’s timezone changes from GMT to BST in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
At 1 am on 30 March, our time goes forward one hour, meaning we get more daylight, which also means we lose an hour of sleep because of the change.
The change from GMT to BST is one of those things that are debated by politicians and the public alike, with many suggesting that we should stay in BST for safety during the winter months. Despite all the talk and gossip, nothing ever changes.
BST (British Summer Time) started in 1916 after a campaign by a builder called William Willett and was supported by Winston Churchill. After a while, the government agreed to reduce energy consumption and increase war production.
Most equipment in today’s world automatically changes the time; however, some devices do need adjusting, which should be done before you go to bed.
