Local Tory councillors acted after reports from concerned local people about the zebra crossing opposite Sam Brooks on Manor Avenue in Sale.

Councillors Rob Duncan, John Holden, and Rupali Paul worked on the project to improve the safety of residents who use the crossing; their hard work and dedication paid off.

Vehicles often do not stop even when people are waiting to cross, which is illegal, and if caught, will mean a hefty fine and points on the license.

Visibility has now been improved with the crossing poles on either side, huge reflective strips, and a flashing orange bowl-like top that should help drivers see the zebra crossing and stop when someone is waiting to cross the road, even when it’s light!

In recent times, an Iceland delivery driver was seen going through the zebra crossing at speed, and lots of ignorant motorists pretend that the zebra crossing is not actually there! The blank looks make them stand out a mile.

This part of Sale is now just that bit safer!
