This weekend brings an end to the social rugby season at Trafford MV Rugby Club as the club’s 3rd XV rounds off their season with an exciting local derby game against Sale FC Norsemen.

The game will kick off at 3 pm at TMV’s MacPherson Park and there will be a good crowd on hand with supporters from both clubs enjoying the fine Spring weather and TMV’s clubhouse hospitality from 1 pm.

The teams are side by side in mid-table, both with 7 wins from their 19 games, and when they met very early in the season it was Trafford MV that came home with the plaudits following a 21-57 away win.

With local bragging rights on the table, both teams will be up for the contest and the status of local social rugby will be on view. Jordan Hughes, 3rd XV captain, will step down following this end-of-season game and a number of players will be putting their hands up to be considered for the next campaign.

Trafford MV’s senior competitive teams have been rocked by the resignation of Head Coach Brian Collier, bringing an end to 3 seasons of steady progress for Trafford MV under his leadership.

Consolidation, promotion, and survival were the story of his term in charge as he built a good competitive side that won promotion to level 7 of the RFU Rugby pyramid and then retained their place at this level with the last play of the game at Liverpool St Helens two weeks ago.

The club has now geared up its recruitment process and is looking for a new Head Coach to lead them into the 2025/26 season.

Alongside this key role, the club will also be searching for amateur rugby players with the ability and commitment to compete at level 7 rugby. With great facilities on and off the field of play, Trafford MV is an exciting place for players to take their rugby journey to the next level.

If you have an interest in any of the developments at Trafford MV, the club would be pleased to hear from you – contact wilfdooley@virginmedia for your enquiry to be dealt with.
