At around 9 PM on Saturday, 3 May 2025, police were called to reports of a serious road traffic collision on Eccles Old Road, Salford.

Apparently, a vehicle passed the junction with Manor Road, and a pedestrian was struck by a car as he attempted to cross the second lane.

The 71-year-old pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 68-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
