Two blocks of a secondary school in Partington will be demolished if Trafford Planning approves the application.
Blocks E and F are to be demolished at Broadoak School due to both being out of use and being deemed by the school as unsafe for both students and staff.
The contractor for the demolition in the application is aware that the blocks are potentially hazardous with asbestos and materials generally contaminated with vermin carcasses and excrement. Other issues, like existing ductwork and cabling, are also mentioned in the application.
It is expected that work on Block E will begin during the summer holidays this year, and measures are in place to ensure the general public will not be affected.
It is expected that new blocks will be built over time, although due to financial issues, it might be a while before any new application is submitted to Trafford Planning.
