IX Wireless are a broadband company that are now installing masts in the Trafford area; they also have masts in other locations in the North West.
These masts are unattractive and, as can be seen in the photo, very dirty. Some of them look like huge poles with a loop fitting at the top, and all will come with green cabinets.
These masts emit up to 70GHz of microwave radiation using beamforming technology, exactly the same as a 5G millimetre wave antenna. Millimetre Wave is not fully operational in Trafford yet, but will be soon. You can see a Nokia one on a pole at the junction of Moss Lane/The Avenue in Sale; we don’t believe it’s switched on just yet.
While we agree we must welcome new technologies with open arms, it also has to come with some care not only for humans but for animals and wildlife that could be impacted by such untested technologies.
No information exists about the type of masts that IX Wireless are using other than what the firm has said. Could the frequency increase at will? The more it increases, the worse things become, and adding this type of frequency to everything else is incredibly high—much higher than we have ever had. Understandably, people are concerned.
Trafford Council cannot do anything to stop these masts from being installed, so they can put them up anywhere, which is bad for everyone. Having one of these unattractive masts could also decrease your house price, or, as in the case of the shops on Eastway in Sale, could see decreased footfall.
You can see all the work IX Wireless will be doing on our Trafford Road Works page.
