This was without a doubt one of the best Altrincham Festival Parades everyone had seen in a long time as it made its way from Altrincham centre to Beech Fields in Timperley on 28 June.
On a very warm day, the excitement started to increase as the participants in the many parade floats and on foot began the slow journey. The music played loud and bubbles started to fill the air; the waves from both spectators and participants helped make this a very special occasion for young and old.
Many floats had school football teams on board, Girl Guides, and more. The Friends of Frankie giraffe float was in support of Frankie, who sadly died in May 2019 at the age of just three from an unexplained death. The family and friends are raising money for the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood charity (SUDC). You can donate by clicking here: https://sudc.org.uk/donate/.
Along with the many parade floats were those walking the entire route; children and adults alike, on what was a warm day. They did great to go the distance but must have been very tired at the end.
Police were on hand to make sure all were safe enjoying the fun, and also in attendance was Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, who were also enjoying the event. Only one medic was seen by our photographer, although more could have been available further on.
The organisers of this event have to be praised fully, and with the participants and good weather, this Altrincham Festival Parade will always be remembered. All the hundreds of residents of this borough will be very much looking forward to the festival in 2026.
