A TUI 787-9 Boeing Dreamliner flying from Manchester AIrport to Espargos experienced an engine issue just after taking off today 6 July 2025.
The flight, despite the issue, was able to continue onwards towards its destination. It is unclear if it was a bird strike, although live footage on the YouTube channel ‘Blue Sky Live Aviation’ shows clearly the engine having some issues with sparks flying and smoke coming from the back.
An inspection took place, and something was picked up off the runway which could have been a bird. The great news is that aircraft can fly and land with one engine, but it’s a gamble because if the other one suffers problems, then the flight and all of its passengers and crew need to land as soon as possible.

As the image from Flightradar 24 suggests, it has a long way to go on one engine. Although we don’t exactly know the problem with the engine, it might be that the flight crew has sorted the issues and was able to continue.
We have asked TUI for further information.
