Local builder and well-known community figure Simon Lowe, owner of Total Building & Roofing, is once again making a difference; this time by donating his time and expertise to the upcoming DIY SOS: Children in Need project in support of The Joshua Tree, a Cheshire-based charity supporting families affected by childhood cancers.
Simon will be part of the volunteer team transforming The Joshua Tree’s facilities as part of the high-profile BBC television show. The build will take place from Tuesday 2nd to Wednesday 10th September 2025, with the grand reveal on Thursday 11th September.
A true community champion, Simon is no stranger to giving back. Beyond the tools and timber, he’s known for his ongoing donations of children’s books to underprivileged youngsters across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, helping foster a love of reading among those who need it most.
Whether supporting families in crisis and local scout groups through charitable building work or sparking imagination through books, Simon’s impact continues to be deeply felt. His involvement in this nationally televised project is another testament to his selfless commitment to others.
Speaking about the project, Simon said:“It’s an honour to play a small part in something that means so much to so many. The Joshua Tree does incredible work, and being involved in the DIY SOS build is just one more way I can help give back.”
Simon’s business, Total Building & Roofing, has built a reputation for quality craftsmanship and strong community values — a reflection of the man at its heart.
To follow the progress of the build and see how people like Simon are changing lives, keep an eye out for the broadcast of DIY SOS: Children in Need – The Joshua Tree later this year.
