With England’s footballing Lionesses reaching the Euros Final, it is a great time to celebrate women and girls’ involvement and success in sport in general and not just in soccer.
It might not be known to many, but the Women’s Rugby World Cup is being held in England this year – with some of the group stage games actually being held in Manchester/Salford at the Salford Community Stadium (formerly the A J Bell Stadium across from the Trafford Centre).
England’s Red Roses will open the tournament on Friday, August 22nd, against the USA at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. Women and Girls Rugby is growing rapidly in the UK and suits players of varying sizes, speeds, strengths, and agilities, with different playing positions suiting differing physiques.
Women’s teams from Wales, Scotland, Canada, Fiji, Australia, and Samoa will feature in games locally on the weekends of August 23rd and 30th – tickets for these games are still available.
Trafford MV Rugby Club is very pleased to be able to offer the opportunity of playing female rugby to girls and women of all ages if they wish to get involved in the sport. We have great facilities to play the sport, as well as excellent off-field amenities for families to enjoy.
If any females in your household would like to get involved in playing rugby, coaching rugby, administration, or refereeing, then we would love to hear from you.
If you would like information on any aspect of female rugby at Trafford MV, then please contact wilfdooley@virginmedia.com and your enquiry will be dealt with.
We hope to see lots and lots of new players over the next couple of months at Trafford MV Women’s Rugby Club in Sale, M33 6LR.
