With most winter sports taking their between-season breaks, it’s time for many players to reconsider their options for the forthcoming 2025/26 season.

Recruitment is a key criterion in most clubs’ plans as they look to build robust and talented squads of players for the sporting campaigns ahead.

Trafford MV Rugby Club is no exception to this, and having experienced a reshuffle off the field following the retirement of head coach Brian Collier at the end of last season, the new coaching team of Aaron Booth, Andy Quigley, and Jamie Kingdon are looking to build their own squad of players capable of competing at Level 7 Rugby in the Counties 1 ADM Lancashire & Cheshire League of the Northern Division.

The coaching team is looking for local players with proven or potential ability to commit and compete for a place in the 1st XV matchday squad ahead of the start of the season at the end of August.

If you are, or you know of, a player that is looking for a new challenge to prove themselves at Level 7, this is your opportunity to play for a place in the Trafford MV 1st XV. The Club has an excellent senior playing pitch, plus a floodlit training area, great changing and shower facilities, a fully kitted-out gym, and player physio available. Training is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7.00 pm prompt.

Off the pitch at MacPherson Park (M33 6LR), the club has an excellent social setup with a clubhouse with a bar and two function rooms and plentiful parking. The Club is close to public transport, both bus and tram, and not far from Sale town centre, so accessibility is good from all across Manchester. Junction 7 on the M60 is close by for drivers too.

If you are interested in taking on a new rugby challenge and making a new set of teammates, then please get in touch with Jamie Butler at mensrugby@tmvrfcc.co.uk, who will progress your interest with the coaching team.

In addition to the flagship 1st XV, the club also runs 2nd and 3rd XVs to provide rugby opportunities for players across a broad skill set and varying fitness levels. The club has a friendly, encompassing ethos which welcomes new players from day one.

There is also a full range of youth teams from 3 years of age through to late teens, giving plentiful opportunities for youths at local high/grammar schools to find their place in Club rugby.

As a boost to the Women’s/Girls game in Greater Manchester, Trafford MV is looking forward to the Women’s Rugby World Cup kicking off later this month. With teams from across the world participating, it is hoped local girls will be inspired to pick up the ball and run with it and find role models among the England Red Roses team.

Rugby is a fabulous game for being part of a team, part of a friendship group, and for pushing yourself to new and unexpected limits. As part of being in a rugby team, you will experience winning and losing, leadership and teamwork roles, respect, and you will get to travel around the North West and maybe even further – the sky is your limit.
