An unexpected visitor came to Manchester this afternoon moving slowly at around 15,000ft the 4x turboprop warplane was going to the Blackpool Airshow.

The Lancaster Bomber played a major part in the Second World War; it was able to carry the bouncing bomb used in the Dambusters raid and was also used for heavy bombing missions.

Made by Avro, the firm managed to produce over 7,000 Lancaster Bombers, and despite the war being long over, there are still a few Lancaster Bombers still going strong and can be seen at several events throughout the year.

The Blackpool Airshow is an annual event that features other war aircraft, old and new, with the finale being a Red Arrows display, which will be tomorrow (10 Aug). They will be seen over Manchester en route to the airshow, although it’s more likely Bolton will be the best place to see them.

If you cannot go to the airshow, do not worry because you can watch live on Simon Lowe Aviation’s YouTube channel, estimated to be around 1 PM.
