This Sunday (7 September) at 3 PM, an alert will sound from everyone’s mobile phone, but do not panic; it’s the government testing the Emergency Alert (again),
Messages have already been sent to everyone with a mobile phone about the 3 PM alert, so what is it for? The UK Government is saying it’s for an emergency event such as flooding or a significant incident in your area where you might need to evacuate.
It is actually a good system to keep everyone safe; however, some people are claiming that the alert is actually part of a more sinister plan. For example, we already have weather-related alerts from the Met Office and others; we hardly have any significant earthquakes that threaten life, and there are no volcanoes, so what else could it be for?
Terrorism is likely; it could be that a biological weapon could be used one day. As we are on a war footing, could this alarm be for people to take cover if anything crazy happens? The alert could be for another pandemic. It is speculative as to why the government is sending out this alert, but it’s for our safety, and that is worth the alert.
If you do not want it, then it’s simple! Just go into settings, look for emergency alerts, and turn it off. So, if you want the alert, then get ready for it just before 3 PM, as it’s very loud, and remember that even if you put your phone on silent, it won’t make any difference; it will still be heard, and all networks are taking part.
