A talented Timperley musician is set to begin her studies at one of the world’s top music conservatoires after being awarded a prestigious scholarship.

French horn player Georgia Paxton, 18, has secured the Emma Rose Scholarship, supported by Mr. and Mrs. Williams, which will fund her four-year course at the Royal College of Music, London – ranked Global No. 1 for Music and Performing Arts (QS World University Rankings 2022–2025).

A former pupil of Heyes Lane Primary, Sale Grammar School, and Chetham’s School of Music, Georgia has been performing since the age of eight.

She has already played at some of the country’s most renowned venues, including The Royal Albert Hall, where she appeared as joint principal horn with the National Youth Orchestra in a performance of Holst’s The Planets at the BBC Proms.

Earlier this year, she also performed in Italy as part of the concert season at Giardini La Mortella and has been principal horn of the Hallé Youth Orchestra, regularly performing at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and on European tours.

Speaking about her achievement, Georgia said:

“I feel incredibly honoured to be studying at the Royal College of Music having been awarded such a generous scholarship. I can’t wait to start, and I feel like I will be walking in giants’ footsteps as many of my favourite musicians and composers studied there.”
