Due to strikes by drivers over a pay dispute, the 247 and 255 bus routes to and from Partington are suspended.
The strike started at midnight today, 19 September, and will last until 22 September at 1 am. This will have a significant effect on Partington residents and for residents in Trafford.
The options are limited from Partington to get anywhere due to the lack of buses in the area. The number 5A from Warrington that goes through Partington is operating and ends up in Sale. The number 5 is also operating but goes from Altrincham to Warrington.
Another bus from Partington, the 253, is also affected by the strike.
Other buses in Trafford affected are:
- 256 from Flixton
- 245 from Altrincham
- 249 from Altrincham
- 250 from Trafford Park
- 15 from Flixton
Trafford School buses by Diamond North West are still running.
More strikes are planned from 30 September and will last until 2 October after Stagecoach, Metroline, and First failed to come back to the negotiating table. The bus drivers want an increase in pay after turning down a 3.5% pay rise.
The disruption not only affects the buses but also events throughout this weekend, including Manchester United’s game vs. Chelsea, Peter Kay’s event at the AO Arena, and Tom Grennan’s gig at Coop Arena. Because of the strike, many people will be taking the tram network to Old Trafford, which will also cause issues for people in Trafford who are doing shopping in Manchester city centre.
More cars are expected to be on the motorway network due to the strike during the afternoon as the Manchester United game kicks off at 5:30 pm. You should plan your journey early to avoid huge delays.
