Torrential rain and gusty winds are currently affecting Trafford, with warnings that have been issued by the Met Office and other weather services.

At the time of publishing, the Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the Middle River Mersey catchment, including areas near Bramhall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham, and Urmston. Water levels at catchments are rising.

You must prepare now for flooding in areas like Flixton and Timperley. Partington Sinderland Brook is expected to flood tonight if the rain continues.

The places mentioned above are at serious risk of flooding.

During the bad weather, Manchester United are playing Chelsea at Old Trafford, and although the rain is torrential, the pitch is slowly becoming waterlogged, which could put the game at risk.

The weather is improving, though, as high pressure is set to come over the UK on Monday, leaving all places dry for next week according to WXCharts.com.

  • UPDATE at 10pm: Flixton and Sale parts of the River Mersey continues to rise although still way below flooding, water levels at Sinderland Brook in Partington is currently at 1.18m the normal range is up to 0.80m
  • UPDATE at 11pm: Water levels at Flixton 1.62m and Sale 1.56m both continue to rise and so does Sinderland Brook in Partington now 1.29m
  • UPDATE at 11.45pm: Flixton 1.69m Sale 1.62m and Sinderland Brook Partington 1.32m

The rain has become lighter and it’s not predicted to rain much overnight so expect water levels to drop and the flooding alert removed by the Environment Agency later today (21 September)

Other parts of Sinderland Brook in Broadheath could also be affected, We have no data for Timperley at this time of publishing.
