At around 4 PM today (22 September), a water main had burst, flooding Flixton Road and other roads around it. Residents reported that the water kept rising before United Utilities turned off the supply.

The water levels reached past people’s ankles at one point, but the levels are now decreasing, and the water firm are currently investigate the cause of the burst water main.

Residents in Flixton and Urmston currently do not have any water supply, with some noticing very low water pressure. This will not change until the pipe is repaired. Those that do have a supply may notice discolouration in the drinking water.

Some residents complained on social media that they did not receive any notice of the water being turned off, while others were asking about Mile Road, but it seems this part of Flixton Road isn’t affected.

The bus services to Partington, 247 and 255, shouldn’t be affected as bus drivers go back to work after a strike over pay tomorrow.

Trafford Council has been alerted to the issues and has pushed out a press release on social media about the situation. If you are affected, please ring United Utilities at 0346 672 3723 or visit unitedutilities.com.
