As Flixton continues to suffer from the burst water main, it is Partington’s turn to experience several smaller water main bursts that flooded some roads.
United Utilities is sending workmen to assess the damage and hopefully fix the pipes as soon as they can, which might mean they have to cut the supply. Some residents have reported very low water pressure at the time of publishing.
The questions remain as to how these water main bursts have happened in such a short time, and this is one that United Utilities needs to answer.
Labour MP Andrew Western issued a statement about the issues in both Flixton and Partington and is trying to find out what the issues are and to get the pipes fixed as soon as possible. The Reform Party in Urmston was first on the scene on Flixton Road yesterday (22 September) and sent us photos of the scene.
Bus drivers have now returned to work in Trafford, and the 247 Partington bus service to and from Trafford Centre is being diverted, so delays will continue throughout the day and until Flixton Road’s dodgy water pipes are fully fixed. This will also mean the 255 service will be diverted.
In a statement from United Utilities for Partington, they said:
“We’re currently investigating an issue in your area which means you may have discoloured water. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience and hope to have your taps flowing again very soon. We’ll provide further updates once we know what is causing the problem.”
