A bad crash that happened earlier this morning on the M60 in Trafford has caused huge issues on the roads around it in most parts of the borough.

Emergency services attended the scene, and police then closed the motorway after the crash at clockwise between Junction 8 at Carrington and 9 at Urmston. Currently, the M60 is still closed and could remain that way for hours until investigators have done their work and the removal of the cars and debris.

The A56 was at a standstill for much of the morning. Although everything got back to some normality during the early afternoon, it is expected that the A56 both ways will get worse again at around 4 PM.

Carrington Spur was badly affected, as was Carrington Lane and Manchester Road going into Partington. The Mile Road was also slow for a time as motorists diverted due to the ongoing issues on the M60.

At this time, no information has been given about how injuries have been sustained in what we believe was a four-car collision, and there is no word yet on when the M60 will reopen, although we expect that to be during the evening.
