A Severe Weather Warning has been issued by the Met Office for much of the North for today, including Greater Manchester, and Saturday, with Storm Amy coming in from the Atlantic.

Gusts of wind could reach around 50 mph in Greater Manchester and are set to be similar speeds throughout the night and for much of Saturday. Heavy rain is predicted to stop at around teatime today (3 October) but will return again in the early hours and during mid-morning on Saturday, leaving a very windy day.

Sunday is predicted to be a dry day, and winds will calm down, so this would be the best day to get out and about this weekend.

The good news is high pressure returns, which means dry and often sunny weather for next week; winds will be light even into the weekend.

Stay safe out there!
