On October 26, ASEZ WAO—a Trafford-based young adult volunteer group of the World Mission Society Church of God—energized Stockport town centre with a community litter pick and plastic upcycling event, joined by over 50 local volunteers and members from Birmingham, Dublin, and the US.

The group covered key areas of Stockport—including Mersey Square, Grand Central, and the Peel Centre—gathering over 30 bags of rubbish and bulky waste in less than two hours. Their efforts helped brighten the town centre into a cleaner, more inviting space for the whole community.

Alongside the clean-up, ASEZ WAO hosted an interactive upcycling stall. Families and passersby stopped to craft flowers, boats, and bird feeders from plastic waste—many of the materials lovingly prepared by the children of Zion.

A panel display highlighted the dangers of plastic pollution and the importance of rethinking how we use everyday materials.

“We want to show our neighbours that we care,” said an ASEZ WAO representative. “If we all make small changes—reducing, reusing, and recycling—we can protect our environment and live more sustainably.”

The event wasn’t just about tidying up—it was about inspiring action. Children, parents, and volunteers came together to learn, create, and contribute to a cleaner world. The atmosphere was filled with smiles, laughter, and a shared sense of purpose despite the wet and windy weather.

ASEZ WAO continues to lead by example, showing how young people can drive positive change. With more events planned, their message is clear: when we work together, we can build a brighter, greener future for all.
