Times are getting more tough out there with more personal robberies and a migrant going on to kill an innocent woman, it is now more than ever to prepare and protect yourself.
Martial arts is the best thing you can do when it comes to giving you the edge out there in the ever dangerous world we all live in, you will gain fighting skills and discipline, you will also gain advanced skills in awareness.
It seems our biggest threat at this time is from some migrants who it seems are only focused on females at this time and we have heard about the tragic death of a woman who was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver as she walked through a dark car park.
If you are working or in any place and a guy makes you feel uncomfortable, he might get pushy or other things that you will find weird, this is the very moment where you need to be in full awareness mode and know what to do.
Even if you have never done any martial arts training, you will already know the situation has spooked you. Without feeling paranoid, call 999 and get the police to come out. If you have a colleague or friend, let them know that you are scared of the man and need assistance. Whatever you do, never keep things like this to yourself, thinking it will be OK.
To stay safe is to know your environment, scanning your horizon for any potential problems ahead. This awareness will mean you can avoid the situation well before anything happens. Using common sense also means you should never take shortcuts, especially during the evening or early morning.
Thinking, “I’ve been down here loads of times and nothing has happened,” might well be true, but sadly one day you could find yourself thinking very differently, and now you are in a spot of trouble. So never go down shortcuts or into empty car parks on your own during the long, dark nights, even if it looks safe.
Martial Arts will teach you hand-to-hand combat, how to deal with someone, and, more importantly, give you the confidence needed in any situation.
The next step is to go and give it a try, or have a look at one and have a chat with the instructor and the team. If you want to train in a more gentle way, you could try Aikido. If you like it energetic, then give Thai-Boxing a try. Wing Chun Kung Fu is a really good martial art for both men and women.
Other Martial Arts, like Tae Kwon Do and other Karate systems, are excellent for self-defense and fitness. Ju-Jitsu is excellent for self-defense; it deals with many things that you could face in an altercation.
Some Martial Arts are watered down from the Military, two of which are Krav Maga and Systema, with Krav Maga being much more mainstream than the Russian Systema.
Remember if you have faced a serious situation you must report to police on 999 instantly no matter what happens this will help you and will help others if they can catch the individual as soon as possible, if you see any violence or personal robberies taking place the same thing applies ring police immediately remembering to get footage when its safe to do so.
