The A56 Dunham Road nearest to Denzel Road in Altrincham has been closed off today (4 November) due to two major water pipe leaks.

Due to the extensive damage caused by the cracked pipes and water everywhere, the part of Dunham Road closed will be that way for a few days so United Utilities can fix the issues.

Looking at the updates (at the time of publishing) this is the current situation according to United Utilities:

  • Some properties in the WA 14 4SW area has no water
  • Properties further out may experience discoloured water
  • Workmen are or will be digging up the road to locate the damaged pipes and fix them
  • Once fixed water will be flowing again and workmen will fill the road in again tarmac it and remove the barriers within a few days

Depending on the severity of the damage, it could take a while for the pipes to be fixed and then a bit more time to get the road back to normal again.

Remember that you could get compensation from the water firm. In this case, they have 48 hours from 4 November, first reported time 2:04 PM. If it’s not fixed, they have to pay you compensation. The company should also have already explained to those without water about an alternative supply.
