A man has been arrested in Old Trafford after Police spotted two males in balaclavas riding surron bikes around the Kings Road area.

Police approached the males after they briefly stopped at the junction of Seymour Grove and later engaged in a foot pursuit.

An 18-year-old male was detained and was pepper sprayed after resisting arrest, after a strip search he has on him in class A drugs cocaine and heroin, he also has a large machete hidden down his trousers and officers also found a quantity of cash and two mobile phones sadly the second individual escaped on foot..

Police seized both bikes after being located nearby.

Inspector Joseph Barron, from our Operation Venture team which tackles knife crime said: “This arrest is a great result for our team and means there is one less dangerous weapon on our streets.

“We have astrong focus on preventing and detecting knife crime across Greater Manchester and we want to ensure the safety of all our communities.

“Knife crime causes real fear and harm, and we are committed to tackling this issue head on.”
