Gale force winds and heavy rain have ripped through local grassroots sport, with fixtures being cancelled across the borough.

Local rugby clubs Carrington and Trafford MV were due to meet, but conditions have proved too unpredictable and pitches unplayable. The fixture will be played later in the season on firmer footing.

Trafford MV will, however, open its clubhouse to supporters of rugby union as the Autumn International series continues, with a huge fixture between England and the New Zealand All Blacks kicking off at 3:10 PM.

Prior to the England game, Trafford MV will be welcoming a group of South African Springbok supporters, who look on TMV as their home base, as their team takes on Italy in a 12:40 PM kick-off.

Over recent years, South African families from across Manchester and Stockport have gravitated towards Trafford MV and now congregate whenever the Springboks play. Seeking opportunities to meet up with fellow countrymen, the South Africans enjoy the warmth and hospitality found in the TMV Clubhouse at M33 6LR.

Any rugby supporters in Trafford are invited to join us in the Clubhouse, especially if you don’t have the viewing channels at home. The big game of the day featuring England and New Zealand will feature four Sale Sharks players, so there is great local interest in this game as the Red Rose looks to make a statement on the world stage.

Come along and join us sheltering from the wind and rain and enjoy a lively afternoon; we will be open from noon and food will be available.
