Whilst we are fully aware of the cracked water pipes and the flooding, and all the lorries carrying toxic water to be treated in Partington, many more issues will face them.

United Utilities has already done the scoping report into plans for a water extraction scheme that will be from the River Bollin in Lymm. If approved by Trafford Council when the full application is submitted, which we believe will be sometime in 2026.

The infrastructure will be on a very big scale that will see pipework and a water treatment plant from Lymm to Altrincham. The pipes will also go near Warburton, and with this work, Carrington Spur, Manchester Road, and Warburton Lane will have construction traffic day and night, causing more chaos on the roads.

As these pipes come over Sinderland Lane, construction traffic will also be seen down the back lanes, which will cause problems for residents and businesses. It will also cause issues along the A56 in Sale and Altrincham, including Sinderland Road in Broadheath.

United Utilities needs to extract the water, it is believed for the Altrincham area, and gallons of water from the Bollin will be extracted every day and treated at a plant that will be constructed, although we currently do not have any information on where this will be built.

There have been some concerns not only for residents of Partington and Carrington but also for the harm to the River Bollin; lots of the green belt could be at risk.

The new RedRow housing development that will soon be decided on at a Trafford Planning Meeting, if approved, will destroy much of the green belt. With this new water extraction scheme, things will get worse.
