An independent optician in Altrincham, Manchester, has been nominated for the title of ‘Contact Lens Practice of the Year’ as part of the 2025 Optician Awards, receiving recognition for their expertise and high standards of patient care.

Maskell + Josephson Optometrists, formerly Ross Maskell & Associates, has a proud heritage in pioneering contact lens care.

Founded by Ross Maskell, one of the UK’s first optometrists to fit daily disposable lenses, the practice continues to push boundaries within the industry under Anthony Josephson’s leadership – combining cutting-edge expertise with a personal, community-focused approach.

More recently, the team at Maskell + Josephson Optometrists has been shortlisted for Contact Lens Practice of the Year as part of the 2025 Opticians Awards.

The Opticians Awards aim to recognise and reward excellence within the optical industry, covering all practice types, professional roles, products, and specialisms. Winners are chosen by a panel of experts who are passionate about their profession and committed to advancing the optical world.

Director and Optometrist, Anthony Josephson, said: “We’re truly honoured to be shortlisted in the 2025 Opticians Awards!

“This achievement truly demonstrates our dedication to delivering exceptional contact lens care and a personalised service to every patient we serve, tailoring our expertise to their needs. Contact lens care is something we are very passionate about, given our decades of experience in fitting and managing contact lens patients with complex needs.

“We’re also sincerely grateful to our loyal patients for their continued trust and support, and we look forward to building on this success and continuing to exceed their expectations.”

The team at Maskell + Josephson Optometrists pride themselves on their commitment to remaining at the forefront of the industry, with their investment in diagnostics, fitting technology, and management of contact lens patients, far exceeding what many practices have available.

Anthony continued: “Whilst it’s very unusual to be an ‘only’ practice these days when it comes to contact lenses, we are very proud to be ‘one in a small few’ when it comes to many aspects of contact lens advancements.”

The winner to be awarded the prestigious national title of ‘Contact Lens Practice of the Year’ will be announced at the upcoming Optician Awards ceremony in London on 13th December.
