A Man was arrested after a 12-year-old boy was assaulted in Timperley at around 6.30pm on 21 November

The young teenager was walking down Stockport Road, Timperley with two friends when a vehicle pulled up next to them, the man then got out of the car and had a metal item in his hand.

The boy and friends ran off and the suspect then chased them, he caught the victim and he was then assaulted with the metal item which caused injuries to his back, hip and his hand.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a section 18 assault and is currently in custody.

Police are saying There is thought to be no threat to the wider public and an investigation is still ongoing.

Detective Inspector Karl Perry from our Trafford district said: “We understand that this incident has alarmed the local community; however, we want to reassure the public that we believe there is no wider threat to the community.

“We are investigating this incident and currently have a male in custody who was arrested on suspicion of assault.
