Due to an Emergency incident involving a JetBlue Airbus flight where it nosedived without any input from the captain, all Airbus A320 have now been recalled, it is thought their is over 6000 of these aircraft all around the world.

Airbus urgently recalled all A320 aircraft, including the A319 and A321, after the incident due to a technical issue believed to be a lack of protection from solar radiation.

All aircraft mentioned will have a software update that will sort out the issues; however, this could take between 2 to 3 hours. It will be a longer delay for older aircraft as they will need software updates and some hardware upgrades.

The airlines affected are mostly easyJet, Jet2, British Airways, Wizz Air, and TUI. In the US, American Airlines has the most A320 aircraft.

This immediate recall could mean your flight will be affected, and you are asked to call your airline as soon as you can for the latest information.

A statement from the Transport Secretary, Heidi Alexander:

“I am aware of the technical issue impacting certain aircraft and concerns over how this will affect passengers and flights this evening. Passengers who are due to fly this weekend should check with their carriers for the latest information.

“The good news is it seems the impact on UK airlines is limited, with a smaller number of aircraft requiring more complex software and hardware changes.

“I would really like to thank the experts, staff, and airlines who are working at pace to address this and reassure passengers that work is ongoing. It is heartening that this issue has been identified and will be addressed so swiftly, demonstrating the high aviation safety standards globally.”
