CrossCountry customers are being advised that a normal service will now operate this Saturday, 6 December – and subsequent Saturdays in December – following the suspension of planned industrial action by the RMT union.
Saturday, 6 December, is expected to be a busy day for many town and city centres across the CrossCountry network – with planned engineering work and Christmas events meaning busier trains than usual.
In particular, this Saturday will see CrossCountry services between Derby and the North East and Scotland extended by up to an hour due to engineering work in the Chesterfield area.
CrossCountry’s Managing Director, Shiona Rolfe, said: “We are pleased that RMT has called off planned strike action throughout December, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board to take them into the festive season. We aim to run our normal timetable on Saturday, but the short time available to reinstate services means there may be some short-notice cancellations.
“Engineering work on parts of the network will still mean some changes to journeys – if you’re planning to travel, please check your journey before setting off.”
Passengers planning to travel with CrossCountry throughout December and into the Christmas period should check their journey with National Rail Enquiries or on the CrossCountry website: www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk .
