A new housing development proposed for Lacy Street in Stretford will be decided at a Trafford Planning Meeting on 11 December.
If approved, the development will be built on a car park and a former Royal Mail sorting office; the former probation service building could also be demolished. There will be townhouses and two small apartment blocks.
On the site, there will be a total number of 38 car parking spaces, all of which will have EV charging, and a proposed cycle store is to be included along with a bin store. All trees will have to be removed to make way for the housing development.
Vehicle access to the site would be via the existing junction of the A56 with Newton Street and via Lacy Street. However, there are some issues with the loss of a cycle path close to Edge Lane to the Bridgewater Canal towpath.
A total of 14 objections have been submitted from residents, ranging from car parking issues to the lack of shops on that side of the A56. Some residents feel that there is no need for any more houses in Stretford.
The application will likely be approved with some conditions attached, and you can watch the meeting live on the council’s YouTube channel from 6 pm.
