A teenager from Sale has been jailed after threatening a man with a machete then driving off with his car.

Paul Willis-Hughes aged 19, from Sale, got into the males car on Newgate Road on 28 February 2025 and threatened him with the machete.

The male ran from the vehicle, and Willis-Hughes drove off in the car. Willis-Hughes was identified via CCTV and mobile data analysis.

Willis-Hughes pleaded guilty to robbery and was jailed for four years when he appeared at Bolton Crown Court on 19 December 2025.

PC Jones said: “Willis-Hughes set up the date for the sole purpose of stealing a car. He is a violent individual and is now rightly behind bars.

“We hope this sends a message that robbery will not be tolerated. We will pursue offenders and bring them to justice.”
