According to reports, the mandatory part of Digital ID is to be scrapped, which was widely welcomed today (13 January) by many people and politicians after yet another U-turn by Keir Starmer and his Labour Party.

The mandatory part of the Digital ID was for anyone who wanted to work in the UK; so basically, if you didn’t have one, you would not be able to work, which Labour thought would help catch illegal migrants and others. However, in reality, it was more about snooping on everyone.

People in the UK have the National Insurance card and other proofs to identify themselves well enough. Having an illegal migrant turn up with no ID will immediately end the application; most of these individuals and anyone else will turn to what is known to many as ‘money-in-the-hand’ jobs.

Digital ID, if it ever becomes mandatory, would mean the government will have complete tabs on absolutely everything you do. With Digital ID comes a nasty side effect: a cashless UK, which was supposed to be here in 2030/31; however, this is likely to be scrapped.

Having digital cash and Digital ID would give the government complete control of your life, restricting your money, where you go, what you are spending, and where. Already, the government has many ways of knowing what you are doing online and even more nasty tricks from a draconian government.

Whilst the government and supporting mainstream media firms gloss over everything, suggesting Digital ID is the best thing since sliced bread, it certainly is nothing like that in reality. It will also mean millions of people will be left behind since to have a Digital ID you need a smartphone, a passport, a driving licence, and other things that not everyone has or will have.

The government always proudly tells people that Digital ID is completely secure! You might think, “Oh, it’s got to be secure since it’s a government thing” or similar, but look at how many times government departments have been compromised recently!

We believe the entire Digital ID ecosystem is the same one as India is using, which is regularly hacked, and even when it’s not, the system has more outages than Ed Miliband’s Net Zero ‘costly’ fantasy.

The entire Digital ID idea would cost the taxpayer billions of pounds at a time when more important things are needed. We could use the cash to spend on our broken mental health services and help local councils from going broke and more!

Whilst this is great news for us in the UK, this does not mean Digital ID is completely gone; it’s just the ‘mandatory’ part of it! Which could be reintroduced post-2029; however, it’s a good sign that the entire thing is dangling by a thread and that Starmer is starting to realise it’s a bad idea and a waste of money.
