Another big blaze happened at a scrapyard in Broadheath during the afternoon, the second in just a year! It is not known at this time what started the blaze, which sent smoke billowing over residential areas and businesses.

Police taped off Craven Road so firefighters could deal with the intense fire. They used a cherry picker type platform with a hose to try and put out the fire at the scrapyard. Firefighters were still at the scene at 7 PM, although they were making sure the fire was completely out.
A police officer told us at the scene that no one was injured in the fire.
Residents have been asking for something to happen to the scrapyard after so many big fires that they have to keep putting up with, and councillors have said they are hoping that no one was injured in the fire; they could put pressure on Trafford Council to look at how it could get things sorted out with the firm to make sure no more fires occur.
The smoke was so bad it was like fog around Bramley Farm restaurant on Sinderland Road.
