Man arrested after stabbing a woman in Partington

Emergency services raced to the scene after reports someone had been assaulted in Partington today (8 Feb)

The serious incident happened on Charlock Walk just after midday when Police discovered a woman believed to be in her 40’s with stab wounds to her stomach, she was treated at the scene and taken away by ambulance, she is expected to make a full recovery.

The man named by Police as Joshua Barker aged 26 was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remains in custody awaiting a court appearance at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court on 10 February.

During the day Crime Scene Investigation Unit and plain clothed detectives were on the scene.
