The train operator has expanded its popular ‘Family Fare’ offer to cover even more routes across the North of England in time for families planning days out over Easter.
Families travelling together can now benefit from cheaper tickets on a range of popular routes across Teesside, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Yorkshire and the North East.
It comes as the operator expands its popular ‘Family Fare’ ticketing initiative, which offers cheap single tickets for up to two adults and four children under the age of 15 travelling together.
The expansion adds new discounted tickets on over 200 more routes including:
- Morpeth – Newcastle: Walk-up price £21.60, Family Fare £3.80 – a saving of £17.80 (82%)
- Middlesbrough – Saltburn: Walk-up price £18.90, Family Fare £4.00 – a saving of £14.90 (79%)
- Doncaster – Leeds: Walk-up price £49.50, Family Fare £6.50 – a saving of £42.50 (86%)
- Liverpool Lime Street – Blackpool North: Walk-up price £72.90, Family Fare £10.00 – a saving of £62.90 (86%)
- Blackpool North – Leeds: Walk-up price £91.20, Family Fare £14.40 – a saving of £76.80 (84%)
- Preston – Leeds: Walk-up price £78.90, Family Fare £11.20 – a saving of £67.70 (86%)
- Wilmslow – Manchester Piccadilly: Walk-up price £21.30, Family Fare £4.40 – a saving of £16.90 (79%)
These new additions sit alongside Northern’s existing Family Fare routes and offer savings of 80% on average for families compared with buying separate tickets.
Alex Hornby, Commercial and Customer Director for Northern, said: “Families are feeling the cost-of-living pressures now more than ever, so expanding our Family Fare offer ahead of the Easter holidays is an important way we can help.
“These new routes give families more choice and better value, whether they’re planning a big day out, visiting loved ones or simply exploring somewhere new across the North.”
Family Fare tickets are available on selected key routes across the North.
No railcard is needed, and customers can find the cheap fares online and on the Northern app, at ticket machines on stations, or buy from the ticket office at staffed stations.
Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,650 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
