Travel Across the North for £10: Super League Special Offer

Northern has named a train to celebrate Super League’s 30^th birthday and is now offering fans tickets which allow them to travel anywhere in the North for just £10 a day.

The train, named Super League 30, was unveiled during an event at Leeds station today by rugby league legends Adrian Morley and Danny McGuire.

The Class 195 unit will be seen by thousands of supporters in the coming months, as it travels across the North of England.

It comes as Super League is celebrating its birthday week – 30 years after the league was launched back in March 1996. 

Two fixtures played in the very first round of the competition three decades ago are being replayed this week. Castleford Tigers play Bradford Bulls tonight and Leeds Rhinos will host Warrington Wolves on Sunday. 

The train operator has been an official partner of the league for 10 years and it is offering fans £10 tickets to mark this milestone.

The tickets allow them to travel anywhere on the Northern network for a day, so they can ditch the car and go to watch their favourite team play or enjoy a day out at more than 500 destinations.

Supporters of all the Super League clubs based in the North of England can apply for up to four unique codes, which are being issued by their clubs. They can use those codes to purchase £10 tickets or pass them on to friends and family.

“That’s why we have unveiled the Super League 30 train and decided to offer fans discounted tickets, which allow them to travel across the Northern network.

“We remain firmly committed to supporting all formats of the game, including the Women’s Super League and Wheelchair Super League, because it is so important to the communities we serve across the North of England.”

It comes after Northern announced a new two-year partnership with Super League, Women’s Super League and Wheelchair Super League.

As part of this partnership, the operator runs an annual competition, giving grassroots teams a chance to win Super League tickets, training equipment and match kit.

Last year, Northern named a train after Rob Burrow, to pay tribute to the rugby league legend and motor neurone disease (MND) campaigner.

Northern worked with Rob’s family and the MND Association to create a design that commemorates his life and raises awareness of the disease, which affects more than 5,000 people in the UK at any one time.

Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with 2,650 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
