Tomorrow (11 April) Trafford MV takes one step nearer the culmination of their season with only 3 games left to play.

Aspull RFC are the visitors to Trafford’s MacPherson Park (M33 6LR) and ideally the home side need to finish the game with bonus points in the bag and a full 5 point haul, currently 6 points adrift at the foot of the table every single point is crucial.

Trafford also need Aldwinians to get a good win over Wigan which would then really open us the relegation fight in the final weeks of the season.

Kicking off at 3.00pm conditions are expected to be good and the call is out to all local rugby supporters, and people new to the sport, to come down and cheer Trafford MV on and enjoy a good afternoon of rugby and socialising.

Head coach Aaron Booth and Captain Andrew Clegg will be looking to their big game players to turn on the form and give the team the ‘go forward’ needed to launch their attacks. The home defence will need to step up and be formidable to keep Aspulls opportunities to a minimum.

Trafford’s 2nd XV head North up the M61 to take on Bolton and will be hopeful of a good result – a lot will depend on squad strength and keeping injury free for the 80 mimutes.

On Sunday Trafford MV Girls Rugby section have 7 players in the Lancashire U16s squad who take on Cumbria U16 Girls at Eccles RFC in a 2.00pm kick off.

The Club is very proud to have a squad of girls with this quality contributing to County Rugby. Trafford MV Girls would like to offer coaching and fitness opportunities to all young girls wishing to get involved in playing rugby at a local Rugby Club based in Sale with good transport links and a great family friendly feeling.

If you have girls of any age that want to get involved in playing Rugby then please contact wilfdooley@virginmedia.com and your interest will be followed up.

If you are totally new to rugby the Club also has Touch Rugby sessions and also Walking Rugby for over 50’s (walking sports are growing across the country benefitting both physical and mental wellbeing). You can get more info on either of these options by getting in touch with Wilf as above. Sessions are good fun and free to play.
