Police are appealing for information after an elderly woman was knocked to the ground during a robbery in Whalley Range.
The incident happened shortly after 9.15am on July 27, the 87-year-old woman was approached by a man asking for change for the bus at the junction of Chorlton Road and Seymour Grove in Old Trafford.
The man continued to ask for money and when the victim took out her purse, he snatched £40 out of her purse and knocked her to the ground and made off.
The man is described as Black or Asian, around 6ft tall, slim build, slightly dishevelled, and around 30-years-old.
Police Constable Stuart Anderson of GMP’s City Of Manchester team said: “This was an extremely frightening experience for an elderly woman and is fortunate she was not more seriously harmed.
“This happened early in the morning and lots of people around waiting for buses so somebody must have seen something.
“We would urge anyone who knows anything that can help our investigation to contact police.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
