Police were called just before 6.30pm tonight Aug 18 to reports of an unattended bag at T2 at Manchester Airport.
A cordon was put in place and the terminal building was evacuated whilst officers established what was in the bag.
Some time later the bag was deemed as non-suspicious and the terminal reopened.
Superintendent Mark Kenny said: “Due to the circumstances this evening, it was appropriate to evacuate the terminal to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
“We contained the situation and dealt with the suspicious bag as quickly as possible so there was minimal disruption to the airport and the public.
“I would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation.”
Manchester Airport confirmed that operations were returning to normal after the false alarm from their Twitter account.
