The government has today announced the proposed route of the HS2 rail link which will see new stations opened up at Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly.

The route will form a ‘Y’ shape that goes from the West Midlands to Manchester and the North West.
The proposed route takes HS2 very close to Partington and Cadishead, Ashley will also be affected by the proposed new rail station at Manchester Airport with residents concerned about traffic issues.
The government see this HS2 as a way of boosting the economy, by speeding up links from London to Manchester and further north.
Many people are alarmed at the thought of having HS2 so close, and ripping up more of their countryside, whilst others agree that the money spent on HS2 could have gone to more important things like keeping the NHS alive.
