Police were called to Trafford Wharf Road in Trafford park on February 10th at around 9.20am, on arrival officers found the body of a man in the Bridgewater Canal.
The death is being treated as non-suspicious and a file has been passed to the coroner.
Police have said they are no longer looking for missing 52-year-old Ian Nally who was from Stretford.
