Actress Carol Lee Scott who played Grotbags the witch dies aged 74

Actress Carol Lee Scott who played Grotbags the witch has died aged 74.

Carol who was a singer and released two albums, got the break as a performer after 19 years working in Pontins, she was approached by Rod Hull in 1982 who was making a new series for Central TV, she accepted the part as a witch, but needed to come up with a name, and it was then “Grotbags” was born.

She also had her own series simply called “Grotbags” where she made 29 episodes over three series.

Carol who had cancer fought a brave battle but sadly passed away on July 3.
