Net neutrality protest in the US will hit UK websites and streaming services

A slow down or even full black out of some websites and streaming services from the US will happen on July 12 because of a thing called net neutrality.

Big US companies like Comcast and Verizon want to control what you see and do online, if they get their way it will change the internet for Americans in a big bad way, this will have a knock on effect for us in the UK.

Big names joining in the protest are as follows:

  • Netflix
  • Amazon
  • Twitter
  • Vimeo
  • Reddit
  • Mozilla

These websites, streaming provider and internet browser Mozilla will affect UK on that day,

If you use Mozilla, we suggest for that one day July 12 to use a different browser, users of Netflix we cannot say what will happen, we expect Amazon to be working, and Twitter, but some users could experience some slow down.

The internet must always be free for everyone to use, to do what they like, big companies must never gain the power to control what we do, to take that freedom away would be a stab in the back for just about everyone around the world.

We fully support the protest.
