An elderly man was rescued from the Bridgewater Canal close to Timperley Metrolink station just after midday on Sept 7.

The male aged 90 was riding his mobility scooter when he lost control and ended up in the canal, a member of the public kept hold of him until help arrived.

All emergency services were involved with the rescue, paramedics took the man to hospital.

We will have an update on the man;s condition soon.
