The ‘Our Independence’ group based in Stretford was opened up some 15-years ago, the group grew stronger over time and now boasts a larger group of people with a wide range of disabilities.
They have people doing arts and crafts at the centre and go on trips to a bingo hall, and day trips out.
One user called Alan said: “It is the only time I get out of the house each week, this is a lifeline for me.”
Mayor of Trafford joined in with the anniversary celebrations and said his thanks to the founder of “Our Independence” named as Renu, he also said “thanks for making people’s lives happier in his borough”
Our Independence group welcome all people and of any age to the centre, and people who has ideas for the group are also welcomed, the group who meet every Wednesday at the Salvation Army on Brunswick Street in Stretford.

Refreshments for everyone is available on the day, the group have translators in many languages, Urdu, Punjab, Hindi, Dutch, Italian and French.
