Trafford MV Rugby are back in League action following a rest week which saw a former players Veterans XV take to the fields at MacPherson Park. MV welcomed Congleton Vets and a great afternoon of Rugby was enjoyed which saw MV winners in the fixture 66-11. The game was followed by MV’s Winter Ale Festival which was a huge success for the Club.
However the serious Rugby is never far away and this weekend Fleetwood are the visitors for the 2.15pm kick off game in the Lancs / Cumbria League, MV’s recent run of good form, which has brought six successive wins, has seen them climb to 6th in the division and within touching distance of the top 3 places.
MV will be looking forward to bettering their 25-39 away win at Eccles whilst Fleetwood also come into the game on the back of a close home win against Bolton 12-10, last season saw both sides win their away fixture and lose at home, this time MV will have the intent of getting that home win under their belt before taking on the away challenge later in the season.
MV are continually looking to strengthen their playing squad by attracting the best of local amateur rugby talent to their regular raining sessions on Tues/Thurs at 6.45pm at M33 6LR. MV have their own production line of 1st XV rugby players that come out of the Mini / Junior coaching system at the Club. However with a number of schools in the borough giving young players a taste for the game Trafford MV aims to be the number one ”go to” club for local amateurs.
Outside of the mainstream Senior and youth Rugby set up’s MV are also working hard on inclusive rugby which has seen well established Walking Rugby for Over 50’s on Wed evenings at 6.30pm and Touch Rugby on Thursday evenings also at 6.30pm – if you are interested in any aspect of Rugby at Trafford MV please contact Wilf Dooley on 01942 884542 or email@example.com. Vets Rugby last weekend was yet another sign of the growing interest in Rugby at Trafford MV.
