Greater Manchester Fire have tweeted that they are fighting a fire that started on the 9th floor of a 12 story building on Joiner Street in the Northern Quarter of Central Manchester which started at around tea time tonight Dec 30.

Roads have been closed all around the area including Church Street, High Street and Tib Street as firefighters tackle the blaze that has now spread onto another floor of the building.
we believe around seven ambulances are at the scene and twelve fire engines.
One person has been taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation so far.
GMFRS have tweeted that people who live in the area must keep all doors and windows locked and for others to avoid the area and all roads in the area are closed.
